Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION:
I want to start small and transition one or two auditoriums in each of my multiplexes – can you help me?
ANSWER:
Cinedigm believes strongly that initially converting at least 50% of the screens in a complex is important for smoothly running theatre operations. For example, having enough digital screens in a complex allows for a movie to play out the entire run of its engagement in digital. QUESTION:
How much will I have to pay to go digital?
ANSWER:
The exact amount to convert to digital will vary from complex to complex. Generally, however, an exhibitor can expect to be responsible for site modifications at each complex, installation of the equipment, maintenance of the equipment and certain contributions to the cost of the digital system. QUESTION:
What is the process for going digital?
ANSWER:
You will need to sign comprehensive license agreements with both Cinedigm and an approved service provider. Once this is complete, a site survey will be done to determine what, if any, modifications need to be done in your theatres to prepare for digital cinema equipment. Based on the results of the site survey, any necessary work will need to be completed, then your theatres will be scheduled for installation.
QUESTION:
How long will the actual transition take? What will my downtime be? Am I going to lose a weekend of shows?
ANSWER: The systems are staged and integrated at the service providers’ warehouse so that minimal setup time is required on site. We try to schedule installations during the week so that the work can be completed with no weekend downtime.
QUESTION: I don’t often have problems with my old projectors – how reliable are these new digital ones?
ANSWER: The systems are very robust and most of the exhibitors feel they are experiencing uptime comparable to, or even better than, they did with film.
QUESTION: I’m a member of NATO’s Cinema Buying Group and I understand Cinedigm has been selected by them as the integrator – what do I do now?
ANSWER: Please contact the NATO-CBG directly at http://www.cbgpurchasing.com for more information and future updates.
